Rescue damaged and incomplete PDFs
PDFs get damaged by interrupted downloads, failing disks, email gateways and buggy software. Often the pages themselves are fine and only the file's index (the cross-reference table) is broken. Repair PDF tries three methods in turn, from the most faithful to the most forgiving:
- Rebuild: the index is reconstructed and every object rewritten, keeping everything intact.
- Recover pages: the raw file is scanned for pages, including partly downloaded ones, and every page found is copied with its text into a new PDF.
- Rescue appearance: as a last resort, each readable page is saved as an image.
You get a report saying which method worked and how many pages were recovered.
